The Council process provides benefits to the employee, company, DOE and tax-payers. The unique design of the Council enables it to assess health, safety and environmental concerns and systems, as well as cultural or interpersonal issues that interfere with constructive communication and problem solving. The Council’s work also minimizes operational disruption and diversion of management resources that is otherwise common to complex whistleblower cases. In doing so, it saves careers of both employees and managers, avoids distracting legal, media, and investigatory activities, improves safety practices, saves time and money for companies, employees and the taxpayer, and keeps the focus on clean up and the doors open on safety.
