The Hanford Concerns Council deals with cases where employee concerns raise complex or controversial technical issues which are alleged to have the potential to cause injury or illness to workers, primarily those issues that appear to be difficult to resolve through other avenues.
The Council also deals with concerns that have potential onsite or offsite impact; or which are alleged to violate safety, health or environmental requirements or practices at the site. In addition, the Council offers a protected environment for dealing with alleged inappropriate management response to concerns, such as harassment or retaliation.
“Worker safety is critical to our cleanup efforts at Hanford, and that’s why fostering a safe work environment has been one of my top priorities there. The Hanford Concerns Council plays an important role as an independent organization able to resolve difficult health and safety issues, and will continue to be a valuable resource as cleanup moves forward at Hanford.” – Patty Murray, U.S. Senator, State of Washington
