Katie Sterling is the Material Asset Manager for WRPS, with responsibility for leading the capacities of spare parts, materials, and tool cribs. Prior to joining the Maintenance organization, she served as the Relief Shift Manager and Operations Engineer for Tank Farm’s Central Shift Office. She is looking forward to expanding her horizons in leading and facilitating company-wide improvements and continuity with materials.
Prior to joining Tank Farms in 2008, Katie served two tours overseas in Iraq on active duty, once as a Battalion Maintenance Platoon Leader and then as an embedded Military Advisor. WRPS encouraged her participation in the Army Reserves and she deployed two more times; once as a Psychological Operations Executive Officer to Iraq and the final time as a Psychological Operations Company Commander to Afghanistan. Katie received multiple awards for her service which include four Bronze Star Medals.
Katie was born and raised on a farm in Iowa. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy in 2002, Masters in Strategic Intelligence from American Military University in 2006, and Masters in General Psychology from Walden University in 2009.
Katie is very involved in the community. She teaches Junior Achievement each year, is currently the Seattle Children’s Hospital Stroum Guild President, was selected to serve on the YMCA Board of Trustees, serves as the WRPS STEM Champion, and volunteers with her church.
Katie married Rick Sterling in February 2015 and they are expecting their first child in February 2016.
